One of the schools that took up our SolidWorks network license is Greenview Secondary. (mind you, it's at Pasir Ris lor!)
But they have a computer called the Digital Art Room (DAR) which has all the arty software installed (e.g. for video making or animation, and of course our SolidWorks) They are also using Boot Camp operating system.. (i.e. you can partition and switch between using MS Windows and Mac) So chio and tempting to get one!!
Slim; big screen; 2GB RAM (very gd for sec sch); dedicated graphic card etc.. Just lack a pic of the screen with SolidWorks rendering haha..
But one slight problem i noticed: the white cable is the power source for the whole PC and if u adjust the screen too hard, the power plug comes off!

Dear is going to move back to AMK this Wed.. we quite miss the jurong place cos he spent 5 yrs there. It was there on bus 99 we started chatting on the way home a couple of times. It was there in Jurong that Dear had the chance to chase me with the "ai xin zao can" at Jurongville Sec haha... It was also where we fellowship with each other AND with the TV, our maggie mee, OLE, his laptop to watch youtube/movies etc etc.. Not to forget the nice and cheap grilled fish there for supper.. So much great memories.. so sad... And it'll no longer be near to office that we can meet for lunch easily..
But the advantage of gg back AMK is that it means he's graduated; the rental is saved; income increase when he start to work next time; and he can send me back home from JW next time wahaha..
We spent today watching Pirates 3 and "The Truth" with my family.. looking forward to the new 9pm show too! haa...
Love you Dear!!

Dear asked me a simple question last night.. "where you to go on Wed?".. though i never really think abt that earlier but felt so loved and touched. It's been a while we went out and i've been helping him almost every night with the project. It's not taxing for me but of course Wednesday onwards we'd have more free time! finally Dear is graduating soon hehe..

After taking so many WAB (Wheelchair Accessible Bus)services by SBS.. that day it was the first time I witnessed on Bus 143 on how it is used..
I watched as the bus driver shifted the bus so that the exit door is just in front of the wheelchair and he deployed the ramp to wheel the passenger up. Then he closed the ramp with a loud bang! So FYI from the website after some research.. "What is the role of the BC (Bus Captain)? What are BCs expected to do whenever there is wheelchair bound commuter taking the bus? (a) To stop the bus closer to the kerb on seeing a PIW (Passenger-in-wheelchair) at bus stop (b) After boarding and alighting activities for other commuters, BC gets off and deploys the ramp at the exit door for the PIW to board (c) Once passenger in the wheelchair is in position, BC may help the passenger tap his ez-link card or slot the fare into the coin box required. (d) To stow the ramp to original position and continue the journey (e) BC will render assistance to the passenger when necessary" I was thinking it shouldn't be too expensive to have an automatic ramp controlled at the driver seat (as like the bus doors) so that it's much faster and convenient..?? Then i read on in the FAQs... "Based on the experience of overseas operators, thefrequency of manual ramp failing is much loweras compared to automatic ramp."
So i got my answer.. well well.. i'm the lazy kind.. everything should be fast and easy haha.. BUT worse still... "Can other passengers help to operate the ramp? As it requires some familiarisation to operate the ramp, we would prefer other commuters to help push the wheelchair onto the bus and position them in the designated area. Later, we might embark on a campaign to educate other commuters to operate the ramp to minimise delay." Ermmm.. it doesn't look easy to handle the ramp lor and seems like anytime my finger will be going in!! haa.. I got a feeling it's just bad design la..
Well.. here is theWAB leaflet.. in case u meet with someone who needs your help one day..

Recently looking out for ideas for design competitions.. I'm just super amazed by this chair!!
FlexibleLove™ experimental furniture incorporates an ‘accordion-like, honeycomb’ structure to create durable furniture pieces produced from widely-available, low-cost recycled materials. FlexibleLove™ furniture pieces, such as FlexibleLove 16™, are made wholly from recycled paper and wood products, and are produced using pre-existing manufacturing processes in order to reduce their overall impact on the environment.
The name “FlexibleLove” was derived from the concept of a ‘flexible love-seat’ - seating that could hold from one to as many as sixteen individuals; changing length and shape with a simple pull at each end. A honeycomb structure, used throughtout the entire FlexibleLove line, produces an accordion-like result that allows each piece to be extended and collapsed with ease.
This patent-pending application of a collapsable honeycombed structure can be applied to a variety of furniture types; soon to be released along side FlexibleLove™ 16 and FlexibleLove™ Mini™.
1) Looking at other products for inspiration. 2) Not creating or studying the design brief. 3) Not checking if the concept fulfils the design brief. 4) Spending too much time on the computer. 5) Not improving their sketch communication skills. 6) Not improving their verbal communication skills. 7) Not making a concept model because they were lazy or not wanting to get dirty. 8) Coming to work late. 9) Not understanding that a design is not theirs but the company’s. 10) Getting too emotionally involved in their designs. 11) Not being friends with Engineering. 12) Forgetting to compromise. 13) Not being friends with Marketing. 14) Mistaking arrogance for confidence. 15) Forgetting Industrial Design requires multi-disciplinary skills. 16) Being disorganized in mind and/or space. 17) Poor Time management. 18) Not planning a 3D construction process before doing 3D modelling. 19) Designing in a 3D program. 20) Forgetting to document their work. 21) Forgetting that there are costs impacts to design decisions. 22) Not including draft angles and part lines in 3D models or design files. 23) Forgetting to save work or worst deleting it by accident. 24) Not thinking through a design to the very end and it gets ripped to shreds. 25) Forgetting that a presentation board is also a design element.
Edit: User submitted content! 26) Over satisfied with the first design. (by Design Monkey) 27) Sketching the same design over and over again. (by Design Monkey) 28) Making things that can be produced instead of creating “insanely” great products. (by Idris Mootee) 29) Forgetting the goal of design is to improve not just make something different. (by Dave Pinter) 30) Being apathetic to sustainable and green design. (by Dave Pinter)
Recalling the times of freezing cold studio life these coming 2 wks cos helping Dear as he now camps in school to rush for the final lap.. Kind of miss this kind of no-day-no-night school life.. cos we concluded that designers like us are generally eccentric (very impromptu, can choose to do something at anytime, no matter wat time of the day, as long as we feel like it).. haha but still prefer working life now la.. need to save more money for future plans liao. Foresee next time we two will be either working very hard (like workaholics) at some point of time, or the other extreme, enjoying ourselves (bo-chapping everything) at some other instances when we take a break to rest. So anyway..2 weeks more to freedom and enjoying! Jiayou bah!=)

"Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us." ~ Eph 3:20 ~
What Pst Tan preached this wk in JW is very true. Sometimes we pray a simple prayer, not feeling any presence or power, yet God hears and answers our prayers. God exceeds our expectation each time.
Recently it applied to me: my current job, which i obtain before the pledging of building fund; and a wonderful soul mate, which God has blessed me with. We both knew we wanted to find a life partner this year (maybe by end of the year) but maybe God is more 'kan chiong' to see us blessed haha.. Cos i had a revelation last time that God is so good to us and He loves us so much that sometimes He doesn't wait for us to think we are ready in order to bless us.
Looking back after fulfilling the building fund, that's what i thank God for the most. Finding a right partner is also a blessing beyond the joy of having so much money but having nobody to share with hehe.. For those still waiting for the miracle, i believe it will come! Don't give up =)
5 more days to 2 months!

Finally!! I recruited a cg member to UM today!! So happy for you Matt (Leo).. Of course i know it's really a good way for him to start serving God in an awesome manner. And I'm sure he will grow and learn like never before cos he really has a great attitude and heart for God.
Today's CG sermon: Presence of God Obed-Edom = "Servant of God" i.e. To bring down the presence of God (through our serving) As we serve in a ministry, are we just going through the motion or can we always bring down (or USHER in) God's presence? Do people see God in you and in your serving?
Exactly what I wanted to share with everyone this Sat. God is just.... awesome.

What Ho Wan Yuen Means
You are truly an original person. You have amazing ideas, and the power to carry them out.
Success comes rather easily for you... especially in business and academia.
Some people find you to be selfish and a bit overbearing. You're a strong person.
You are well rounded, with a complete perspective on life.
You are solid and dependable. You are loyal, and people can count on you.
At times, you can be a bit too serious. You tend to put too much pressure on yourself.
You are very charming... dangerously so. You have the potential to break a lot of hearts.
You know how what you want, how to get it, and that you will get it.
You have the power to rule the world. Let's hope you're a benevolent dictator!
You are usually the best at everything ... you strive for perfection.
You are confident, authoritative, and aggressive.
You have the classic "Type A" personality.
You are very intuitive and wise. You understand the world better than most people.
You also have a very active imagination. You often get carried away with your thoughts.
You are prone to a little paranoia and jealousy. You sometimes go overboard in interpreting signals.
You are a free spirit, and you resent anyone who tries to fence you in.
You are unpredictable, adventurous, and always a little surprising.
You may miss out by not settling down, but you're too busy having fun to care.
You are a very lucky person. Things just always seem to go your way.
And because you're so lucky, you don't really have a lot of worries. You just hope for the best in life.
You're sometimes a little guilty of being greedy. Spread your luck around a little to people who need it.
You are friendly, charming, and warm. You get along with almost everyone.
You work hard not to rock the boat. Your easy going attitude brings people together.
At times, you can be a little flaky and irresponsible. But for the important things, you pull it together.
Design salaries in 2007 rose on all fronts... except in Fashion Design. Design Management and Interaction Design / Web Design enjoyed the biggest upticks.
On the average, consultancies were where it was at in 2007. In graphic design, interaction / web design, architecture and fashion, respondents working at consultancies made the most. Freelancers held their own and in the field of interior design, did the best of anyone!
Previously known as "Designer Rock-osity," this chart compares what the average designer makes in various countries. The salaries have been equalized in a way that allows comparison of earnings in an "apples to apples" manner. So we can see where designers are "living large" - India!
Another comparison of compensation across the primary fields of design. The results are not dissimilar from last year's, although industrial designers seem to be doing better on the high end of things.
Looking at the design fields in the USA we find that over the past 7 years that the West has been the Best (for designers at least!)
