sorry guys.. i had been busy with many things this wk.. just started the training in school this wk and just nice it's also the first wk of the new JW svc (yep i thot it was just 2 mths ago haha).. most of the day time i am teaching so not free to go online (so unlike me) haha..
very happy to see that most of the students are able to follow and having fun learning SolidWorks so tat's what keeps me gg.. gd thing there is a long CNY break next wk.. but now very limited in my range of clothes to wear to school.. most are too funky or fanciful haa.. so hard to be normal when u are a City Harvester! Have to borrow some clothes from my sis hahah..

Thanks to my trench buddy.. i get to drive a few trips on a relatively new Nissan Latio hehe.. quite high tech bah without key and with sensor to unlock vehicle.
Played Wii Tennis in CGM today.. i think i'm gd at it haha.. and good exercise for lazy ppl like me... my team won some starbucks voucher!

Wanna upload Jen's wedding photos but camera not with me so will put up soon..
Bought many things in the last one wk at Ikea. think spent $1200+ .. can't wait for the delivery tml and hopefully it will be nice and neat enough for me to show some photos.. the 2 leather swivel chairs (like big-boss arm chairs) are cheap and with 5 years warranty (i'm amazed).. Saw this at IKEA today: This is their trade mark and selling point. Inspiring? It inspires me. The word DESIGN is enough to make me awake.
I'm a bit of a kan chiong spider now cos next Mon is finally the time i gg to start training in school for 5 whole weeks.. it will be very tiring in Feb. But the school is so nice to give me a big table in the HOD room beside the D&T HOD.. I have thumb print access to the staff rooms, a phone to call out, internet access during the breaks and cheap lunch in school.. cool? =) and not forgetting the students will kanna scolding from the "trying-to-be-stern" - MS HO.
Went to sit in some lessons these 2 wks and today one of the Normal Tech classes finally finish their model in the workshop.. the sense of satisfaction is what teachers (and me) find it all worth while.. when u see that they have learnt and are able to complete the task nicely. Triggered by someone's blog to post a comment abt the importance and need for product design..
Quoting myself:
"Of course we need product design.. everything u see: handphones, laptops, electrical appliances, furniture, stationary etc etc .. are designed by someone u know haha.. just tat many ppl dun realise of think of it.. Even industrial machines need to be designed by engineers (by them only when aesthetics are not impt at all haha i'm bias.. sorry engineers).
If there are no designers, there will not be any casing for your hp/printer/mouse/car etc etc.. cos how ever fast technology develops, there is no physical structure to support it and no innovation to improve your standard of living..
If there are no designers, you won't have comfort using things or see nice colours and shapes of chairs, tables etc.. (and toilet bowls haha).. and everything will be plain and square..
Anyway Singapore is moving towards more knowledge and appreciation of arts mah.. which includes PRODUCT DESIGN!! There are so many new courses coming up..

Though i very much wanted to go home and nua or do things after attending the wedding, can't resist the rare chance of a lazy afternoon and nice fellowship with my gd frens haha.. and being able to play with aLan's new dog QQ! Also learnt more abt dogs; photography too from Gene; Ming's family etc.. hmm still miss Buddy more hahaa..
Think i should blog on PHILIPPE STARCK? Since YH and Juan are in the midst of discussion of design and designers wahaha... Check out the nice classy pieces of art but i particularly love the watches.. too bad too ex to buy still..It's all sold at Fossil..

I'm super honoured and excited cos today my boss and me met with the founder of STIKFAS: Mr Ban Y.J.!!This is their human size model displayed at the entrance.
For those tat dunno... just look up their website.. they have an astounding range of action toy figurines.. We actually only arranged a meeting with the marketing manager but bumped into him at the entrance.. I'm not a big toy fan but the clever "ball-and-socket" design and flexibility of mix and match just intrigues me.. And also, we should be proud of such home grown companies and entrepreneurs, although it is really sad that Singapore market is so small and they only focus on overseas market.

Went ikea to look at furniture and storage solutions.. though for some of my things i have not found a solution, glad that we settled on the design and layout of the workstation tables (whatever u call it).. after all the measuring. i got no choice but to clear and throw away many things to make space.. guess it's good bah. i'm exhausted now and i just hate the dust... cardboard boxes and unfinished wood are the worse cos u can't really wipe them and it'll never feel clean. So... sealed plastic containers are the best haha..
Can anyone identify with the feeling of mass throwing away of unwanted/old/useless things during spring cleaning? YEA!! very SHIOK.. hahahha i threw 3 bags of trash in abt an hr just now..
Though one of the things that pains my heart is the 周华健 cassette tapes.. For those that dunno, i like his songs since Sec 2..(til maybe JC or starting NUS).. "wakin-fan" (my email) was started as a result from then.. Due to lack of financial resources as a deprived kid, i used to record the songs from radio on cassette tapes haha.. after so many years of 依依不舍. . finally see no point in keeping since i dunno if it's turned moldy and won't risk it on my hi-fi set so... yep.. -_-
It's ok after not listening for so long but his voice still moves me.. now that i searching out some of the songs on youtube.. just to share a few nice songs here.. maybe can just ignore the obiang image of the 80's on the screen and just listen, most of the MVs i have not seen before also hahaha...enjoy!

Congrats to Ziwei and Jelaine! Finally after 7 long yrs.. i still waiting for the childhood frens who are the longest in courtship i ever known.. 10 years this Feb wow haha...
Ris said a funny joke.. a fren who had a flying license went to learn and gotten a driving license. Guess wat?? He tends to drive to the middle of both lanes hahaaa.....
the crazy weather of singapore is happening again. one moment it was scorching hot, the next it poured til it's flooding.. dislike this humidity haha

POWER of FOCUS

3. Don't be distracted by pains in life. Pst mentioned abt the part abt serving too: "..Some of you ushers come early in the morning wk after wk..." Waking up early.. not so much a sacrifice since i can do without much sleep. But there are other areas like sacrificing our finances.. serving God isn't cheap after all.. high phone bills, traveling expenses (cab fare!), extra funds/gifts, taking care of ushers welfare etc but of course all these are worth it. The purpose and calling and the true friendship cannot be bought by $$.. and God remembers and rewards! Anyway praise God for another financial blessing! Individual tuition change to group tuition.. yea! My per hr value has increased again!
Pst mentioned abt us filling the goal setting card starting with whichever category tat is close to our hearts.. not hard to guess what's mine? CREATIVITY.

Wow yonghui has a blog! And i'm impressed and totally intrigued cos arty farty things causes my heart to pound faster and adrenalin to flow.. esp seeing jaw-dropping designs.. (Yonghui like staircases) It also happens when i'm in the interior/graphic design section if i happen to be in a book shop (cos i dun read any other books, tat's the only section i can be interested in).. anyway the lingo he use maybe only "we" designers can understand, hor yonghui? wahaha.. interesting and inspiring...
It's a few days past Jan le.. can feel tat my rest is gg to be over soon and need to get ready to run the race again in this year ahead =)
Many ppl still dunno what is my jobscope at work.. i work with sec schools.. introducing this design software SolidWorks to promote engineering literacy at a younger age. SolidWorks is widely used in Polys/ITEs/NUS/NTU mechanical engineering and of course in the industry. To me i feel that sec school's Design and Technology is like a diluted version of what i study in Industrial Design (which is like product design) in NUS.. In that way, i'm the relevant person with relevant backgrd to teach them to explore design possibilities using available technology and such a user-friendly software.
Yep.. not too chim to understand rite? haha..
